Biography
Donald Tosh (16 March 1935 – 3 December 2019) was a British screenwriter and script editor. He served as story editor on the BBC series Doctor Who from 1965 to 1966, overseeing stories from The Time Meddler to The Massacre of St Bartholomew's Eve and working with producers Verity Lambert and John Wiles. He contributed uncredited rewrites to The Massacre of St Bartholomew's Eve and The Celestial Toymaker.
Before Doctor Who, Tosh was script editor on the BBC soap Compact (1964–1965) and had helped develop the series that became Coronation Street. He later wrote episodes of Mystery Hall (1967), Thirty-Minute Theatre (1968) and Sherlock Holmes (1968), and served as script editor on the latter. After leaving television he worked for English Heritage as head custodian at sites including Sherborne Old Castle.
