Biography
Doodles Weaver was an American character actor, comedian and musician. He began his career in radio in the late 1930s, appearing on Rudy Vallée's programmes and Kraft Music Hall, and later joined Spike Jones' City Slickers. In 1957 he hosted his own NBC variety show, The Doodles Weaver Show.
Weaver appeared in more than 90 films and numerous television series from the 1950s through the 1970s. His film credits include the fisherman assisting with the boat rental in Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds (1963), Rube in The Nutty Professor (1963), a hardware store clerk in It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World (1963) and a pool player in Pocketful of Miracles (1961). He also guest-starred on series including Batman (as Crier Tuck), The Andy Griffith Show and Starsky & Hutch. His niece is actress Sigourney Weaver.
