Biography
Doreen Catherine Mary Montgomery was a British screenwriter. Born in Glasgow on 12 April 1913, she graduated with an arts degree from the University of Edinburgh and began her career submitting scripts to Associated British Picture Corporation, where she was placed under contract by Walter Mycroft.
She worked for Gainsborough Pictures in the 1940s, contributing to films including Just William (1940), The Man in Grey (1943), Fanny by Gaslight (1944) and While I Live (1947). Her television credits include episodes of Dr. Finlay's Casebook, Danger Man (1960) and The Avengers (1963), for which she created the character Cathy Gale. She also wrote the play A Summer House (1954) and co-wrote the book Voices in the Dark (1971). Montgomery died in London on 24 February 1992.
