Biography
Dorian Harewood is an American actor born on 6 August 1950 in Dayton, Ohio. He graduated from the Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati with a BFA.
He is known for his role as Eightball in Stanley Kubrick's Full Metal Jacket (1987). Other notable performances include Jesse Owens in The Jesse Owens Story (1984), Simon Haley in the miniseries Roots: The Next Generations (1979), and recurring roles in television series such as Strike Force (1981–1982), I'll Fly Away and 7th Heaven (1996–2003). In 1994 he received the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series, Mini-Series or Television Movie for his work on I'll Fly Away.
Harewood began his career in musical theatre, appearing on Broadway, and has also worked extensively in voice acting, including roles in Space Jam (1996) and animated series.
