Biography
Doris Ake was an American actress and dancer. She began her screen career with uncredited ensemble roles in the late 1930s and appeared in numerous Hollywood films through the early 1950s, often in dance sequences or background parts.
Her credits include The Duke Is Tops (1938), Mr. Washington Goes to Town (1941), Up Jumped the Devil (1941), Road to Morocco (1942), Star Spangled Rhythm (1942), Cabin in the Sky (1943), Stormy Weather (1943), I Walked with a Zombie (1943) as Black Friend of Melise (uncredited), Thank Your Lucky Stars (1943), I Dood It (1943), Jam Session (1944) and Bright Road (1953). She also worked as an uncredited double for Ruby Dee on The Jackie Robinson Story (1950).
