Biography
Dorothy Peterson was an American actress. Born Bergetta Peterson on 25 December 1897 in Hector, Minnesota, she began her career on Broadway in the 1920s, appearing in productions including Dracula (1927) and Subway Express (1929). She made her film debut in Mothers Cry (1930) and went on to appear in more than eighty films, typically in supporting roles as mothers or wives.
Her credits include Treasure Island (1934) as Mrs Hawkins, Dark Victory (1939) as Miss Wainwright, Saboteur (1942) as Mrs Mason, The Woman in the Window (1944) as Mrs Wanley, and Mr. Skeffington (1944) as Manby. Peterson was married to actor Guinn 'Big Boy' Williams from 1943 until his death in 1962. She remained active in theatre and television until the early 1960s and died in New York City on 3 October 1979.
