Biography
Dot-Marie Jones (also credited as Dot Jones or Dorothy-Marie Jones) is an American actress and retired athlete. Born in Turlock, California, she attended California State University, Fresno, where she set records in shot put, and became a 15-time world arm wrestling champion.
She began acting after being discovered at a bodybuilding competition and has appeared in numerous television series and films. Jones is best known for playing Coach Shannon Beiste (later Sheldon Beiste) on the musical series Glee (2010–2015), first as a recurring guest star and later as a main cast member. She received Primetime Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series in 2011, 2012 and 2013 for the role. Other credits include Lizzie McGuire (as Coach Kelly), The Boondock Saints (1999), Patch Adams (1998) and appearances in American Horror Story, The Mentalist and Modern Family.
