Biography
Doug Richardson is an American screenwriter and novelist. He attended the USC School of Cinematic Arts and later received a two-year contract with Warner Brothers. His first major feature credit was the screenplay for Die Hard 2 (1990), co-written with Steven E. de Souza and adapted from the novel 58 Minutes.
Richardson went on to write screenplays for Bad Boys (1995), Money Train (1995) and Hostage (2005). He is noted as the first Hollywood writer to sell a spec screenplay for one million dollars, in partnership with Rick Jaffa. He has also written several novels and the nonfiction book The Smoking Gun: True Tales from Hollywood's Screenwriting Trenches (2015). He served as executive producer and story writer on Welcome to Mooseport (2004).
