Biography
Douglas Netter was an American television producer and executive. Born in Seattle in 1921, he began his career in film and television production in the 1960s, with early credits including associate producer on The Ambushers (1967) and co-producer on The Wild Geese (1978). He served as executive vice president and chief operating officer at MGM Studios from 1970 to 1975, and later produced Western projects such as the miniseries The Sacketts (1979).
Netter's work in science fiction began with Captain Power and the Soldiers of the Future (1987), where he first collaborated with J. Michael Straczynski. He went on to serve as executive producer on the series Babylon 5 (1993–1998) and its spin-offs and telefilms, including Crusade (1999) and Babylon 5: The Lost Tales (2007). Between seasons of Babylon 5, he founded Netter Digital, a CGI effects company that handled visual effects for the show and related projects. Netter died in 2017.
