Biography
Dr Nele Karajlić, born Nenad Janković on 11 December 1962 in Sarajevo, is a Bosnian musician, actor, writer and television director. He is one of the founders of the New Primitivism movement and was lead singer and co-author of the rock band Zabranjeno Pušenje. He co-created and appeared in the television series Top lista nadrealista and Složna braća.
During the Bosnian War he moved to Belgrade, where he continued his work with a splinter of Zabranjeno Pušenje that collaborated with Emir Kusturica and became The No Smoking Orchestra. He has acted in films including Underground (1995), in which he played Falling Gypsy, and Life Is a Miracle (2004), in which he played the cymbal player. He has also written and directed television series and composed film music.
