Biography
Dyan Cannon is an American actress. Born Samille Diane Friesen on 4 January 1937 in Tacoma, Washington, she made her television debut in 1958 and appeared in episodic series and B-movies before her breakthrough film role as Alice Henderson in Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice (1969).
She received Academy Award nominations for best supporting actress for Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice and for her performance as Julia Farnsworth in Heaven Can Wait (1978), for which she also won a Golden Globe Award. Cannon has further credits including Revenge of the Pink Panther (1978), Deathtrap (1982) and the television series Ally McBeal (1997–2002) as Jennifer 'Whipper' Cone. She has also written, produced and directed, including the short film Number One (1976), for which she received an Academy Award nomination.
Cannon was married to actor Cary Grant from 1965 to 1968; their daughter Jennifer Grant is an actress. She has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
