Biography
Ed Bicknell is a British music manager and drummer. He began in the industry as chairman of Hull University’s entertainment committee from 1967 to 1969, later moving to London where he worked as a drummer and agent before becoming a manager.
He is best known for managing Dire Straits from 1978 and continuing with Mark Knopfler after the band’s dissolution, as well as representing artists including Scott Walker, Gerry Rafferty, Bryan Ferry and The Blue Nile. He also played drums in The Notting Hillbillies. Bicknell appeared as himself in the 2006 documentary Scott Walker: 30 Century Man.
