Biography
Ed Marinaro is an American actor and former professional football running back. He played college football for the Cornell Big Red, where he was a unanimous All-American and won the Maxwell Award in 1971. He played in the National Football League for the Minnesota Vikings, New York Jets and Seattle Seahawks.
After leaving football, Marinaro became an actor. He joined the regular cast of the television series Hill Street Blues in 1981, playing Officer Joe Coffey until 1986. He has also appeared in series including Laverne & Shirley (1980–1981) and Sisters (1991–1994).
Marinaro starred as Coach Marty Daniels in the comedy series Blue Mountain State (2010–2011) and its 2016 film sequel. He has appeared in films including The Many Saints of Newark (2021).
