Biography
Eddie Dew (also credited as Edward L. Dew and Edward MacMillan Dew) was an American actor, film director and television director. Born on 29 January 1909 in Sumner, Washington, he began appearing in small film roles in the mid-1930s and gained notice for supporting parts in westerns such as Dude Cowboy (1941).
He starred in several B-westerns for Republic Pictures, including Red River Robin Hood (1942), Beyond the Last Frontier (1943) and Raiders of Sunset Pass (1943). Dew also had uncredited roles in major productions such as Citizen Kane (1941), Cat People (1942) and Sunset Boulevard (1950). From the 1950s he directed numerous films and television episodes, notably more than forty instalments of the series Sergeant Preston of the Yukon.
His final screen appearance was in Pagan Island (1961). He died on 6 April 1972 in Burbank, California.
