Biography
Edward R. Brown, also credited as Edward R. Brown Sr. and Ed Brown, is a cinematographer and member of the American Society of Cinematographers. He began his career as a camera operator in 1966 before moving to director of photography roles on feature films from 1972, starting with The Hot Rock.
Brown served as director of photography on the first two seasons of the television series Star Trek: The Next Generation (1987–1989). His other credits include the mini-series Eleanor and Franklin (1976), for which he shared a Primetime Emmy Award, and regular series such as Remington Steele (1982–1984) and Scarecrow and Mrs. King (1984–1986). He received additional Emmy nominations for his work on Scarecrow and Mrs. King and Star Trek: The Next Generation, and later taught at film schools.
