Biography
Edward Sinclair (born Edward Sinclair Perry) was an English actor best known for playing the verger Maurice Yeatman in the BBC sitcom Dad's Army (1968–1977). He first appeared in the series as a church hall caretaker before taking on the recurring role of Yeatman from the second series onwards. He also appeared in the 1971 feature film adaptation of the series.
Sinclair was born in Oldham, Lancashire, in 1914 and began his professional acting career in his forties after a background in amateur theatre. His other screen credits include The Magic Christian (1969), No Sex Please, We're British (1973) and the 1974 television adaptation of David Copperfield. He died in 1977.
