Biography

Edward Stephenson (also credited as E. S. Stephenson) was an American art director and production designer. Born Edward Sheffield Stephenson on 9 February 1917 in Algona, Iowa, he died on 28 February 2011 in Hollywood Hills, California.

Stephenson worked in television for five decades. His credits include art direction on the 1965 CBS production of Cinderella and production design on series such as Soap (1977–1981), Benson (1979), The Golden Girls (1985–1992), Empty Nest (1988–1995) and Blossom (1990–1995). He also contributed to variety programmes including The Andy Williams Show and the special An Evening with Fred Astaire (1958).

He received three Primetime Emmy Awards and further nominations for his work in art direction and production design.
