Biography

Eileen Erskine was an English actress born in Nottingham. She appeared in several British films of the 1940s, including as Vi in This Happy Breed (1944), Mrs Hilda Parsons in The Way Ahead (1944), and Biddy in Great Expectations (1946).

Her stage work included the original West End production of J. B. Priestley's Time and the Conways in 1937, and she appeared on Broadway in Faithfully Yours in 1951. She was married to actor Philip Friend from 1941 until his death in 1987. Erskine also had television roles, such as in BBC's The Pallisers (1974), and her autobiography Scenes from a Life was published posthumously.
