Biography
Eileen Nicholas is a Scottish actress. She played Renton's Mother, credited as Cathy Renton, in Danny Boyle's Trainspotting (1996) and appeared as Renton's Mother via archive footage in the sequel T2 Trainspotting (2017).
Nicholas was born in 1946 in Glasgow. She has worked extensively in British television, with credits including multiple episodes of Casualty (as Mary Calthorn, Alma Hobbes and Nina Barnes), Holby City and Broken (as Nan). Film roles include Trish in Dead in a Week (Or Your Money Back) (2018) and appearances in Estranged (2015) and The Wee Man (2013). She has a substantial stage career, performing with the National Theatre and receiving awards for work including Request Programme and Bomber (2009).
