Biography

Eleni Anousaki is a Greek actress and former politician. She was born on 1 May 1944 in Athens. Her parents were actress Malaina Anousaki and tenor Evangelos Anousakis. She made her screen debut at the age of six in the 1950 film I Sinned for My Child.

Anousaki trained at the Drama School of the National Theatre and appeared in The Red Lanterns (1963). She studied in Italy at Cinecittà and had a role in Carol Reed’s The Agony and the Ecstasy (1965). She is known for her supporting role as Lola in Zorba the Greek (1964) and for work in Greek cinema, theatre and television during the 1960s and 1970s. She later served as a member of the Hellenic Parliament for Athens with PASOK between 1989 and 2004. She is married to director and cinematographer Dimitris Papakonstadis.
