Biography
Elizabeth Adare (born 3 June 1949) is an English former actress and television presenter who later became a child psychologist. Born in Newcastle upon Tyne to parents from Sierra Leone, she was raised there until 1957. She trained at the Mountview Drama School and worked in repertory theatre in Glasgow and Coventry, as well as with the National Theatre and the Young Vic.
Adare is best known for playing Elizabeth M'Bondo in the science fiction series The Tomorrow People (1973–1979). Her other television credits include guest roles in Rising Damp (1974) as Lucy, Mind Your Language (1977) as an African lady, Crossroads (11 episodes), Within These Walls, Rumpole of the Bailey and Enemy at the Door. She also appeared in the films Father, Dear Father (1973) and A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square (1979), and hosted About Books for Thames Television.
Adare retired from acting in 1983 and trained as a child psychotherapist, later heading a social services department in central London.
