Biography
Elizabeth Hartman (born Mary Elizabeth Hartman, 23 December 1943 – 10 June 1987) was an American actress of stage and screen. She made her film debut in A Patch of Blue (1965) as Selina D'Arcey, opposite Sidney Poitier. For the role she received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress and won the Golden Globe Award for New Star of the Year – Actress.
Her subsequent film credits include You're a Big Boy Now (1966), The Beguiled (1971) and Walking Tall (1973). She voiced the title character in the animated feature The Secret of NIMH (1982), her final screen role. Hartman also appeared in several television productions and had a background in theatre.
