Biography
Ellie Kanner, also credited as Ellie Kanner-Zuckerman, is an American film and television director and former casting director. She grew up in Bloomfield, Connecticut, and began her career in talent representation before becoming a casting director.
Kanner cast the pilots of series including Friends (1994) and Sex and the City (1998), as well as other television and film projects such as Kicking and Screaming (1995) and Sleep with Me (1994). She transitioned to directing with the 2001 film Rachel's Room and has since directed episodes of Boston Legal (2004), The Dead Zone (2002), Greek (2007) and Wildfire (2005), and films including Authors Anonymous (2014). She has also worked as a producer on several projects.
Kanner was married to television producer and writer David Zuckerman; the couple divorced and have two children.
