Biography

Emanuel Ungaro (1933–2019) was a French fashion designer who also worked in film costume design. He provided the clothes worn by Gena Rowlands in John Cassavetes' Gloria (1980).

Ungaro received other film credits including costume design on Trompe l'oeil (1975) and work on The Trout (1982) and Manon 70 (1968). He learned to sew from his father, an Italian tailor, and later worked with designers Cristóbal Balenciaga and André Courrèges.
