Biography
Emily Ballou is an Australian-American screenwriter, novelist and poet. Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, she studied film and English at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee and completed a Master of Letters in Gender and Cultural Studies at the University of Sydney before immigrating to Australia. She now lives in Glasgow, Scotland.
She wrote episodes of the Australian mini-series The Slap (2011), which won an AWGIE Award, as well as episodes of Humans (2015), Scott & Bailey (2014), Case Histories (2013) and Becoming Elizabeth (2022). Her other screen credits include the anthology film The Turning (2013) and the television film American Blackout (2013). She created and wrote the series One Night (2023).
