Biography
Emily Richard (born Anne Richards) was a British actress. She trained at the Webber Douglas School of Singing and Dramatic Art and was a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company.
Her screen credits include the role of Jim's mother in Steven Spielberg's Empire of the Sun (1987) and Mother Maria in Hansel and Gretel (1988). On television she appeared in series such as Enemy at the Door (1978–1980) and Oscar (1985), in which she played Constance Wilde.
She was married to actor Edward Petherbridge, with whom she appeared in several stage productions including the Royal Shakespeare Company's The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby (1982).
