Biography
Emmanuel Machuel is a French cinematographer. He trained at the École Louis-Lumière (1952–1954) and IDHEC (1954–1955). He began working as a camera assistant in 1959 and contributed to films including several by Robert Bresson, before becoming a director of photography in 1975.
Machuel has worked on features such as L'Argent (1983), Van Gogh (1991), Ossos (1997) and A Talking Picture (2003). He received a César nomination for best cinematography for Van Gogh and the Osella d'Oro for best cinematography at the Venice Film Festival for Ossos. He is a member of the Association Française des directeurs de la photographie Cinématographique.
