Biography
Enzo Petito (born Vincenzo Squatriti, 24 July 1897 – 17 July 1967) was an Italian film and stage character actor. Born in Naples, he began his career in the theatre in the 1950s as a member of Eduardo De Filippo’s company at the Teatro San Ferdinando in Naples, appearing in several of De Filippo’s stage productions and films.
Petito played supporting roles in numerous Italian comedies of the late 1950s and 1960s, including Poverty and Nobility (1954), The Widower (1959), He Who Hesitates Is Lost (1960), Roaring Years (1962) and Christmas at the Cupiello House (1962). He is best known internationally for his final screen role as the storekeeper in Sergio Leone’s The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (1966).
