Biography
Erana James is a New Zealand actress of Māori descent. She was born on 17 February 1999 in Whangārei and grew up on a farm before moving to Wellington at the age of ten. She trained at Rata Studios, a performing arts school run by director Miranda Harcourt, and made an uncredited appearance in The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug (2013).
James's first major film role was as Laura Chant in The Changeover (2017). She gained wider recognition playing Toni Shalifoe in the Amazon Prime Video series The Wilds (2020–2022). Other credits include My Life Is Murder (2019) as Juliana Lloyd, Uproar (2023) and We Were Dangerous (2024). In 2025 she joined the main cast of the FX series Alien: Earth as Curly.
