Biography

Eric Heisserer is an American screenwriter, filmmaker, and producer. Born in 1970 in Norman, Oklahoma, he launched his career in 2005 with the sale of his screenplay The Dionaea House to Warner Bros.

Heisserer wrote the screenplay for Arrival (2016), earning a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay. His other credits include Lights Out (2016), Bird Box (2018), Bloodshot (2020), and the Netflix series Shadow and Bone (2021–2023). He directed Hours (2013).

He has been married to television writer and producer Christine Boylan since 2010.
