Biography
Ernest Truex was an American actor of stage, film and television. He began performing as a child and made his Broadway debut in 1908. His career spanned from 1907 to 1966, with numerous supporting roles in comedies.
Truex played the reporter Bensinger in the 1940 film His Girl Friday. Other film appearances include Bachelor Mother (1939), Christmas in July (1940) and Dance, Girl, Dance (1940). He also appeared in television series such as The Twilight Zone (1959), Alfred Hitchcock Presents (1955) and Petticoat Junction (1963).
He was married to the actress Sylvia Field from 1941 until his death in 1973.
