Biography
Evan Carlos Somers (also credited as Evan Somers) was an American writer, director and producer. He contributed to three episodes of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (1993–1994): the teleplay for 'Battle Lines', the story and teleplay for 'Melora', and the story for 'Meridian'. He also received story and teleplay credit on the Star Trek: Voyager episode 'Ex Post Facto' (1995).
Somers wrote episodes for other series including Baywatch (1996), Space Cases (1996) and Beast Wars: Transformers (1998). In 2005 he wrote, directed, executive produced and starred in the documentary The Seeker. He became a quadriplegic following a diving accident at the age of 16; his experiences informed the wheelchair design featured in the Deep Space Nine episode 'Melora'. Somers died in Los Angeles on 11 October 2010.
