Biography
Evelyn Del Rio was an American actress born Evelyn Bernadette Janer on 22 September 1931 in Cataño, Puerto Rico. She began her professional career as a child dancer at the age of four, billed as the 'Latin Shirley Temple', and appeared in stage performances at the Cotton Club and the Apollo Theater. She toured with Carmen Miranda and hosted the radio programme The Baby Evelyn Show.
Del Rio's film credits include My Two Loves (1938) as Anita Ramos, You Can't Cheat an Honest Man (1939), The Bank Dick (1940) as Elsie Mae Adele Brunch Sousé, Aloma of the South Seas (1941) and an uncredited role in Thrill of a Romance (1945). During the Second World War she performed for the USO. She retired from entertainment in the early 1950s. She was married to Arthur L. Anderson and died on 26 November 1998 in Los Angeles, California.
