Biography

Evgeni Tomov is a production designer, concept artist and illustrator specialising in animated features. Born in the former Soviet Union, he grew up in Bulgaria and earned a master's degree in fine arts and illustration from the Nikolai Pavlovitch University of Fine Arts in Sofia in 1986. He moved to Montreal in 1990 and began working in animation, including on the short film The Old Lady and the Pigeons (1998).

Tomov served as production designer and art director on Sylvain Chomet's The Triplets of Belleville (2003). He later worked as development art director on Chomet's The Illusionist (2010). His production design credits include The Tale of Despereaux (2008) and Arthur Christmas (2011). He received an Annie Award nomination for his work on The Tale of Despereaux.

Tomov has worked on visual development for studios including DreamWorks Animation and has contributed to live-action projects such as Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018). He is based in Los Angeles.
