Biography
Ezio Frigerio (16 July 1930 – 2 February 2022) was an Italian production designer, art director and costume designer. After studying architecture he began working in theatre, designing costumes for productions directed by Giorgio Strehler at the Piccolo Teatro in Milan during the 1955–56 season. He maintained a long collaboration with Strehler on numerous stage and opera productions.
Frigerio worked extensively in film, serving as production designer on Cyrano de Bergerac (1990) and The Horseman on the Roof (1995), and as art director on 1900 (1976). He received an Academy Award nomination for art direction for Cyrano de Bergerac. He frequently collaborated with costume designer Franca Squarciapino, his wife, and designed the grave of Rudolf Nureyev.
