Biography
Fay Holden (born Dorothy Fay Hammerton) was a British-born actress who worked primarily in American films. She began her career on stage under the name Gaby Fay and appeared in 46 films between 1935 and 1958.
She is best known for playing Emily Hardy, the mother of Mickey Rooney’s character, in 15 of the MGM Andy Hardy series films. Other notable roles include Mrs. Kahly in Blossoms in the Dust (1941), Mrs. Overmire in Canyon Passage (1946) and Hazel in Samson and Delilah (1949). She was married to actor David Clyde from 1914 until his death in 1945.
