Biography

Fernando Epstein is a Uruguayan film editor and producer. Born in 1969 in Montevideo, he studied social communication at the Catholic University of Uruguay and began working as an editor during the transition from linear video to digital systems, operating one of the first Avid systems in the country.

He founded Control Z Films in 2001 and co-founded Mutante Cine with Agustina Chiarino in 2011. Epstein has edited and produced numerous Latin American independent features, including Whisky (2004), Gigante (2009), Neon Bull (2015), The Heiresses (2018) and Utama (2022). He served as producer on Monos (2019), for which he also worked as additional editor and post-production supervisor.

Many of the films he has produced or edited have premiered at festivals including Cannes, Berlin, Sundance and Rotterdam, and received international distribution.
