Biography
Florence Lee (also credited as Florence D. Lee) was an American actress who appeared in over 90 silent films between 1911 and 1931. She specialised in character roles as older women and is best known for her final screen appearance as the blind girl's grandmother in Charlie Chaplin's City Lights (1931). She also featured in several Our Gang shorts during the 1920s.
Born Florence Dawson in Florence, South Carolina, in February 1864, she moved to Los Angeles around 1918 and began working in films. Lee retired after City Lights and died in Los Angeles on 17 February 1933.
