Biography
Frances Dee was an American actress. Born Frances Marion Dee in Los Angeles, she began her career as a film extra in 1929 and gained her breakthrough with a leading role opposite Maurice Chevalier in the musical Playboy of Paris (1930).
She appeared in more than fifty films, including An American Tragedy (1931), Little Women (1933) as Meg, Of Human Bondage (1934) and I Walked with a Zombie (1943) as Betsy Connell. Dee retired from acting in the mid-1950s. She was married to actor Joel McCrea from 1933 until his death in 1990.
