Biography
Francis Lemarque, born Nathan Korb, was a French composer, singer-songwriter and musician. He composed the score for Jacques Tati's PlayTime (1967), as well as music for films including The Umbrellas of Cherbourg (1964), The Young Girls of Rochefort (1967), The Counterfeiters of Paris (1961), The Gentleman from Epsom (1962), The Old Guard (1960) and Maigret Sees Red (1963).
Born in Paris on 25 November 1917, he wrote and performed hundreds of songs, several of which became standards. He collaborated with Yves Montand and received multiple awards from the Académie Charles-Cros. He was made a Chevalier of the Légion d'honneur and died in Saint-Maur-des-Fossés on 20 April 2002.
