Biography
Francis Monkman was an English composer, keyboardist and guitarist. He studied organ and harpsichord at Westminster School and the Royal Academy of Music, where he won the Raymond Russell prize, and performed with the Academy of St Martin in the Fields.
In the late 1960s he co-founded the progressive rock band Curved Air. He later joined the classical-rock fusion band Sky, which he left in 1980. Monkman composed the soundtrack for the film The Long Good Friday (1980) and contributed to other film and television scores.
