Biography

François Emmanuelli is a French production designer and art director. He began working as a production designer in 1991 on Les Arcandiers, directed by Manuel Sanchez. He trained as a sculptor and model-maker after studying fine arts and applied arts.

Emmanuelli collaborated extensively with director Cédric Klapisch on films including Le Péril jeune (1994), Chacun cherche son chat (1996), Un air de famille (1996) and The Spanish Apartment (2002). He later worked with Jacques Audiard on The Beat That My Heart Skipped (2005) and with Thomas Bidegain on Les Cowboys (2015) and Soudain seuls (2023), the latter of which he described as his final film project. His credits also include The Intouchables (2011) and Serial (Bad) Weddings (2014). He received a César Award nomination for production design on Peut-être (1999).
