Biography
Frank Giering (23 November 1971 – 23 June 2010) was a German actor. Born in Magdeburg, he studied at the Hochschule für Film und Fernsehen in Potsdam-Babelsberg before dropping out to pursue a career in theatre and film.
He gained attention after a role in the television film Der Verräter (1995), leading Austrian director Michael Haneke to cast him in The Castle (1997) and as the character Peter in Funny Games (1997). His performance in the latter was noted as a breakthrough. Other notable roles include Floyd in Absolute Giganten (Gigantic, 1999) and the title character in Baader (2002). From 2006 until his death, he appeared as Commissioner Henry Weber in the ZDF series Der Kriminalist.
