Biography
Frank Morriss (1927–2013) was an American film and television editor with more than fifty credits from 1968 onwards. He began his career as a sound and music editor before moving into picture editing on television series including It Takes a Thief and McCloud.
Morriss maintained a long collaboration with director John Badham from 1974 to 2004. He edited Steven Spielberg’s television film Duel (1971) and Don Siegel’s Charley Varrick (1973), for which he received a BAFTA nomination. He won two Primetime Emmy Awards for The Execution of Private Slovik (1974).
His feature work earned Academy Award nominations for Best Film Editing on Blue Thunder (1983, shared with Edward M. Abroms) and Romancing the Stone (1984, shared with Donn Cambern). Other credits include Short Circuit (1986), Bird on a Wire (1990) and Nick of Time (1995).
