Biography
Friedrich von Thun, born Friedrich Ernst Peter Paul Maria Thun-Hohenstein on 30 June 1942 in Kvasice, Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia (now the Czech Republic), is an Austrian actor. He began his career in 1958 and has appeared in more than a hundred films and television productions since then, working primarily in Germany where he is based in Munich.
He studied German and theatre studies in Munich and took private acting lessons. Early theatre work included an engagement at the Münchner Kammerspiele from 1963 to 1967. Among his credits are roles in Ginger and Fred (1986), Schindler's List (1993) as Rolf Czurda, Amen. (2002), Hitler: The Rise of Evil (2003), Cold Hell (2017) and Old White Man (2024). His son Max von Thun is also an actor.
