Biography
Fritz Manes was an American film producer. He worked primarily with Clint Eastwood’s Malpaso Productions from the mid-1970s to the mid-1980s, serving in roles including associate producer, producer and executive producer on more than a dozen films.
Born in Oakland, California, Manes met Eastwood at school and later joined Malpaso in 1973. His producing credits include Any Which Way You Can (1980), Tightrope (1984) and City Heat (1984); he was executive producer on Firefox (1982), Sudden Impact (1983), Pale Rider (1985) and Heartbreak Ridge (1986). He also took on unit production manager duties and occasional small acting or stunt roles.
Manes and Eastwood had a falling out during Heartbreak Ridge. After leaving Malpaso he formed his own company, Sundancer, and served on the California Film Commission. He died in 2011.
