Biography
G. V. Prakash Kumar is an Indian film composer, playback singer, actor and producer who works predominantly in Tamil cinema. Born on 13 June 1987 in Chennai, he is the son of playback singer A. R. Reihana and the nephew of composer A. R. Rahman. He made his debut as a composer with the Tamil film Veyil (2006).
He rose to prominence in the early 2010s with scores for films including Aadukalam (2010) and Mayakkam Enna (2011). Prakash Kumar composed the background score for the Hindi film Gangs of Wasseypur – Part 1 (2012) and its sequel, and the music for Irumudi (2026). Other notable credits include Soorarai Pottru (2020), Asuran (2019) and Amaran (2024). He has won National Film Awards, Filmfare Awards South and SIIMA Awards.
