Biography
Gail Katz is an American film and television producer. Born in Los Angeles in 1950 and raised in Beverly Hills, she holds a BA in economics and political science from the University of California, Berkeley, and an MBA from the Yale School of Management (1980). She began her career at New World Pictures, where she served as vice president of finance and later vice president of production.
Katz produced her first feature, Shattered (1991), and subsequently collaborated frequently with director Wolfgang Petersen. Her credits as producer include Outbreak (1995), Air Force One (1997), Bicentennial Man (1999) and The Perfect Storm (2000). She has also served as executive producer on films such as In the Line of Fire (1993) and on television series including The Agency (2001–2003) and Cashmere Mafia (2008). Katz heads Gail Katz Productions and is a professor at the USC School of Cinematic Arts.
