Biography
Gavin Brivik is a composer for film and television. He studied contemporary classical and electronic music composition at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, where he combined his background as an indie rock and folk guitarist with orchestral and electronic instruments. He later received a Masters in Music Composition for Film and Multimedia at New York University.
Brivik composed the score for the Max series The Pitt (2025–), which premiered in 2025. He collaborated with Andrew Bird on the original song “Need Someone” for its second season. His other credits include Cam (2018), Wild Indian (2021), How to Blow Up a Pipeline (2023), The Seventh Day (2021) and Faces of Death (2026). He has received the World Soundtrack Award for Best Composition by a Young International Composer, the ASCAP Jimmy Van Heusen Film Composer Award, the Alan Menken Composer Award and the Elmer Bernstein Film Scoring Award, and was named one of the Society of Composers and Publishers’ “Film Composers to Watch”.
