Biography
Gavin Thurston is a British cinematographer and camera operator specialising in natural history documentaries. He has worked extensively with Sir David Attenborough for more than thirty years, contributing to numerous BBC and other productions.
His credits include director of photography on David Attenborough: A Life on Our Planet (2020), Our Planet (2019), A Perfect Planet (2021) and additional photography on The Life of Birds (1998) and The Life of Mammals (2002). He has also served as director of photography on Monkey Kingdom (2015) and Blue Planet II (2017).
Thurston has received multiple awards for his work, including two Primetime Emmys and several BAFTA nominations. He is the author of the memoir Journeys in the Wild.
